A Wakefield-based construction company has completed the build of a 65,000 sq ft factory extension for listed double glazing giant Safestyle UK.
Harris CM completed the £4.5m project at the Valley Road factory in Barnsley, which involved the design and build of a substantial extension to the existing plant.
The scheme will allow Safestyle to consolidate its on-site manufacturing functions and create a unit complete with a mezzanine floor to accommodate break areas and office space. The factory has been equipped with a wide range of innovative technology including a state of the art new glass toughening furnace, a fully automated glazing line and a high-speed cutting table.
Safestyle UK PLC (LON:SFE) was at capacity at its existing premises, so the extension to its factory will enable them to meet future demand for its products.
Danny Mulqueen, from Harris CM, said: “This build has further enhanced our growing track record for the construction of production facilities within live working environments.
“We were able to add real value to the project by recommending a specific type of external cladding so we could use double size Kingspan panels, that were quick to install with a tower crane, and saved six weeks against the original construction programme.
