A vanadium flow battery – the first of its kind in Australia – has just been installed at the National Battery Testing Centre (NBTC), a flagship project of the Future Battery Industries CRC. The commissioning and testing of the battery is a collaboration between QUT, research partners and government.
The Future Battery Industries CRC brings together about 50 partners, including industry participants, Federal and State Government stakeholders, academics and researchers and broader participants and supporters from across related sectors.
QUT project lead and NBTC Director, Professor Peter Talbot said the delivery and installation of the vanadium flow battery at the Redlands Research Facility was a significant milestone in supporting Australia’s developing battery storage industry.
Ferro-Alloy Resources Limited (LON:FAR) is developing the giant Balasausqandiq vanadium deposit in Kyzylordinskaya oblast of southern Kazakhstan. The ore at this deposit is unlike that of nearly all other primary vanadium deposits and is capable of being treated by a much lower cost process.
