Safeguard your baby’s umbilical cord blood and cord tissue with BabyCells

The Collection Kit

Before your due date we will provide you with a BabyCells Collection Kit that you will take to your delivery room (you can even build this in your birth plan). The Kit is designed for the safe collection and transport of collected umbilical cord blood and umbilical cord tissue after child birth. The BabyCells Collection Kit contains cool packs which must be frozen in a domestic freezer and placed into the BabyCells Collection Kit when you leave for the hospital.

Our unique Kit has been designed and validated internally for the sole purpose of ensuring your umbilical cord blood and umbilical cord tissue arrive at our facility in Manchester in optimum condition.

Phlebotomist duties

After the safe delivery of your baby, the phlebotomist will take over to collect your umbilical cord blood and umbilical cord tissue. The process of collection of umbilical cord blood and umbilical cord tissue is technically simple, non-invasive and a 100% risk free procedure for  you and your baby. The umbilical cord blood and umbilical cord tissue is collected after delivery of the placenta. The phlebotomist will also need to take a sample of maternal peripheral blood which will be used for infectious disease screening
