Record breaker: Voice.com domain name sells for staggering $30 million

MicroStrategy sold the domain name Voice.com for $30 million, the company announced today. This is a record, by a large margin, for a public domain-only sale.

Blockchain-based social media platform Block.one bought the domain name in an all-cash deal facilitated by GoDaddy. It actually paid more than $30 million when you consider its undisclosed commission to GoDaddy.

CentralNic Group Plc (LON:CNIC) provides registry services, distribution, and strategic consultancy for new TLDs, ccTLDs and SLDs. They use their in-house developed IT platforms to distribute its portfolio of popular domains to a global network of over 1,500 registrars (retailers such as GoDaddy LLC), which sell these to end users.
