Q&A with James Beams Chief Executive Officer at North River Resources plc. (LON:NRRP)

North River Resources plc. (LON:NRRP) Chief Executive Officer James Beams caught up with DirectorsTalk for an exclusive interview to discuss the latest drilling results, an outstanding intersection and what this means for the project

Q1: Now James, you’ve just put out some very interesting drilling results, could you expand on how the drilling programme is going?

A1: Yes, the campaign to grow the mineral resource base at our Namib project is going very well. This next step drilling, in fact, has been a long time coming as we’ve had to first develop a tunnel from the old underground workings in order to first gain access at depth to our northern ore body, that development is near completion now and so the drilling is well underway. The results North River Resources announced yesterday are on the back of receiving first assay data back and although still at an early stage the fact we’re intersecting ore below the current resource is certainly a big positive for us as we look to expand the initial lie of the project. To date we’ve drilled about 1,500 metres of that total programmed 3,800 metres and we should remain on track to complete that ore by the end of June.

Q2: One drill hole in particular showed quite an outstanding intersection, can you tell us about that?

A2: Yes sure, it certainly was. An intersection of 57 metres albeit with a true width of 8.5 metres at 28% zinc, certainly a big positive. This is just one drill hole though and I should note it was at a low angle of intersection with the load so we do need to wait for further results to gain a better idea more broadly of how the mineralisation extends down but as you say, certainly an outstanding intersection. So we’re waiting assay results in three more holes and our initial XRF analysis indicates high grade intersects in all three of those holes as well.

Q3: Brilliant. What does all this mean for the project?

A3: This drilling campaign is North River Resources’ focus at the moment as we look to grow the resource base for the project. The next step activities, if you like, to take the project forward to a construction decision are things like early stage engineering and design of the processing plant and then following from that, updating the capital and operating cost estimates for example remain on hold as I try to conserve cash until we have greater clarity on timing and the conditions attaching to the mining licence and also the proposed empowerment legislation in Namibia. So on that front, our immediate next step on the licence is to submit a proposal to the Ministry of Mines and Energy in late April on those conditions attaching to the licence and look to reach agreement with them, following which, all going well, the licence would then be issued.
