Following the Food Standards Agency (FSA) giving the CBD industry a deadline of March 31, 2021, to submit valid novel food authorisation applications The Association for the Cannabinoid Industry (The ACI) have outlined new plans for The ACI Safety Certification programme.
After March 31 next year, only products which have submitted a valid application will be allowed to remain on the market. The authorisation process ensures novel foods meet legal standards, including on safety and content.
Essentially the FSA’s new safety regulations excludes all CBD food products from sale in the UK without a validated Novel Foods application dossier.
