Santos believes the company’s $3.6 billion Narrabri CSG project could be the genesis of an industrial hub in the region. The project is currently being assessed by the New South Wales Department of Planning for environmental approval, with a decision expected in September. According to Santos, the project has the potential to supply half of NSW’s gas from 2022.
“We’re getting a lot of interest right now from manufacturers and potential buyers looking to put offtake agreements in place, some of which are looking to set up operations in the region,” said Santos CEO Kevin Gallagher. “There is no shortage of gas,”
