Electricity storage provider Bushveld Energy initiated the development of a minigrid project, at the Vametco mining and processing facility, in March last year.
The facility is located 8 km northeast of Brits, in the North West.
The company is a subsidiary of Aim-listed integrated primary vanadium producer Bushveld Minerals – which also owns Vametco.
The ongoing project has a net 1 MW minigrid that combines solar photovoltaic (PV) generation and energy storage using vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFB) technology at Vametco.
Bushveld Minerals Limited (LON:BMN), together with its subsidiaries, engages in the exploration and development of mineral projects in South Africa. It operates through three segments: Vanadium and Iron Ore, Coal Exploration, and Vanadium Mining and Production.
