Cord Blood Education is Key
In 1988 in France, Dr. Eliane Gluckman performed the world’s first cord blood transplant. This event set in motion a revolution in the medical world. To date there have been over 35,000 cord blood transplants worldwide.
Currently, cord blood is being used to treat over 80 different life-threatening diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma and sickle cell anaemia. It is also proving critical to new areas of regenerative medicine to potentially treat spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, autism, type 1 diabetes and much more. We are just beginning to discover its full potential.
Widecells Group PLC (LON:WDC) are leading a transformation in cord blood banking and stem cell treatment; making cord blood banking more accessible through insurance coverage, and increasing the availability of cord blood for transplants.
