The Lexus RC F is a rare bird. When a Mercedes-AMG C63, Audi RS5, or BMW M4 drives by, you will probably take notice, but you might not point it out a friend. Not so with the RC F aside from being much rarer than its German counterparts, the RC F draws your eyes with its flowing silhouette and gaping spindle grille. Five model years after its introduction in 2015, it gets a light makeover for 2020.
The big news is the addition of the RC F Track Edition. The exclusive Track Edition, of which only 10 will come to Canada at a smidgen below $120,000, comes with carbon-ceramic brakes and lightweight BBS wheels, as well as a front spoiler, hood, roof, rocker panels, rear diffuser and fixed rear wing, all finished in carbon fibre. The wing isn’t just aesthetic; it adds 26 kilograms of rear downforce at speed. There’s also a carbon-fibre chassis-reinforcing brace behind the rear seat, though it nixes the opening into the trunk for skis and such.
Surface Transforms plc (LON:SCE) are experts in the development and production of carbon-ceramic materials and the UK’s only manufacturer of carbon-ceramic brakes for automotive use.
