Facebook could face a fine of up to $1.6bn under the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for a data breach that could have affected the accounts of up to 90 million users.
Ireland’s Data Protection Commission have demanded more information from Facebook about the scope and nature of the breach to determine how many EU residents were affected and the risk to users, according to the Wall Street Journal.
