Risk IQ security researchers think the mysterious ‘Magecart’ group were responsible for stealing 380,000 customers’ details between August 21 and September 5.
And also thought to have carried out June’s Ticketmaster raid, when they obtained the details of 40,000 customers.
The experts believe the hackers “set up custom built, targeted infrastructure to blend in with the BA website specifically and avoid detection for as long as possible.”
Rob Shapland, a security consultant at another research company Falanx Group, said the attack could have been prevented due to the publicity around the ticket website hack only weeks before.
