Q&A with Michael Ward Chief Executive Officer at Gateley Holdings PLC (LON:GTLY)

Gateley Holdings PLC (LON:GTLY) Chief Executive Officer Michael Ward caught up with DirectorsTalk for an exclusive interview to discuss their Preliminary Results for the year to 30 April 2017

Q1: First off, congratulations on delivering a strong set of results today. What’s driven the growth?

A1: It’s been a good performance across the entire business really, 4 of our business segments have had double digit growth and that’s just really continuing to do what they’ve been doing and becoming more successful in the areas they operate.

Q2: A year ago, all the talk was surrounding the potential fallout in light of Brexit, how has this impacted the business since then?

A2: Well, we haven’t seen any significant impact to date, we’re a very well broad-based business, operating in numerous business sectors. I think initially we saw a little bit of lack of confidence in the property market, particularly in London but not in the regions, but since then business has held up well.

Q3: Now, acquisitions are part of the growth strategy at Gateley Holdings, how well advanced are you with the integration of the Gateley Hamer acquisition?

A3: We’re well integrated now, they know our business, they’ve visited all aspects of our business, talked to all our people and made sure everyone knows exactly what they do and how to sell it to existing client base. So, we would say very well along with the acquisition.

Q4: With a 3 originally planned shares schemes now in place, how has this helped you attract key talent to the group?

A4: It has 2 aspects really, it’s not just the ability to attract new talent, it’s the retention of existing talent. We’re keeping the statistics on that, it’s early days yet but we feel there’s a positive effect of having all our existing employees holding share options within the business. When we talk to new people, we can talk about the exciting opportunity of them becoming equity holders in this business at an early stage in their careers.

Q5: How would you describe the outlook for the rest of the year for Gateley Holdings PLC?

A5: We’re continuing to operate in all our segments, we need to continue work hard doing the things we’re good at and getting client acceptance of the services and the level of service we provide, it’s business as usual looking forward.
