Q&A with Meinhard Benn Founder of Satoshi Pay

Blue Star Capital PLC (LON:BLU) investee SatoshiPay Founder Meinhard Benn caught up with DirectorsTalk for an exclusive interview to discuss the integration of PayPal into the SatoshiPay platform

Q1: Now, you’ve launched PayPal support today, what exactly can people do with PayPal at SatoshiPay now?

A1: So far, we accepted bitcoin as a payment method to top up our system and as of today, we also accept PayPal which makes it much much easier for many more people to actually use our system. They don’t need to have any previous connection to any cryptocurrencies, they can just use their existing PayPal account, top up and easily confirm the means of payment, confirm the payment itself and then already have satoshi’s in their wallet, it takes a few seconds and only needs a PayPal account so it’s so easy now to get into our system. You still don’t need to sign up for SatoshiPay itself, it’s all done without sign-up and without download or any login and so on.

Q2: What impact on your business do you think this will have?

A2: We focussed on the bitcoin niche so far, just to get feedback and also quite a forgiving audience so once things don’t work so well we have to perfected our systems so far now in the last year, now, we expect more growth from publishers, and generally more consumers that can actually read content using SatoshiPay. So, more activity in terms of transactions and also more mainstream media coverage and also mainstream media engagement because now we can be taken seriously by the big publishers as well, let’s say The Guardian or other big newspapers around the world.

Q3: So, what’s coming next for SatoshiPay?

A3: This was a big milestone and we worked hard to make this as smooth as we can and we will have PayPal in a beta test, meaning with a few things still to fix so we are also looking for feedback from our users and they can send us feedback via our email address. We will launch a couple of publisher projects that were in the pipeline for a while, they are waiting for the PayPal integration because for them, of course, they need to offer their audience some payment method that their audience can use and don’t want to explain to them that they need to use bitcoin. So, a lot more acceptance by publishers and users.
