Gateley Plc provides pro bono advice to Iraqi refugee charity

Gateley Holdings PLC (LON:GTLY), the legal business of law-led professional services group Gateley, has advised the Bring Hope Humanitarian Foundation (BHHF) on its incorporation as a registered charity in the UK, providing legal advice on a pro bono basis.

The charity provides humanitarian aid and essential items such as food, clothing, blankets, toys and medical supplies, to vulnerable groups of people, particularly child refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs), in Iraqi Kurdistan.

BHHF also organises recreational activities such as football academies, sewing projects and cultural and musical events to some of the two million refugees currently distributed in the region, where over 50 refugee camps are spread across three provinces in Erbil, Duhok and Sulaimaniyah. In the past few months, the charity has built its first artificial football pitch in Harsham Camp, aided 850 refugees suffering from food poising at the Khazr Camp, and helped liberate Al Khansa, one of the largest paediatric hospitals in Mosul.

The charity was initially incorporated in Sweden in 2015 but sought to move its operations to run mainly from the UK this year. The Gateley team, led by solicitor Katherine Hornsby and partner Nigel Brown, advised the Foundation on entering onto the UK Register of Charities. All matters undertaken were done pro bono.

Katherine Hornsby, solicitor at Gateley Plc, commented: The trustees are delighted with the registration of BHHF in the UK and cannot wait to start putting plans in place to raise awareness in order to continue to serve and help those in need.

It was a pleasure for us to assist with such an important cause and we wish the Foundation a successful future in the UK.
