Ilika plc is a pioneer in materials innovation and solid state battery technology. By applying our heritage of patented materials invention, we have developed ground-breaking solid state batteries to meet the specific demands of a wide range of applications in the Internet of Things (IoT). We license our battery technology IP to partners for IoT sensors for the Smart Home/Building; Medical; Automotive and Transportation sectors around the world.
Unlike standard lithium ion batteries, Stereax® P180 solid state batteries have lower leakage currents (10x smaller) and longer life spans of up to 10 years (5x longer). They can also be integrated with other electronic components enabling the product to be kept as small as possible. In the Stereax P180 all of these aspects are now combined with the ability to support temperatures from -40°C up to +150°C.
Why will you do well?
Most analysts agree that the market for sensors will continue to grow rapidly. We are heading towards the trillion-sensor scenario, but many of the new sensor deployments will be wireless. This means wireless power as well as wireless communication. The best way to power a wireless sensor over a long period of time is to use an energy harvester, such as a small photovoltaic panel, in combination with a rechargeable battery. Stereax batteries have the unique benefits of a long lifecycle, low leakage currents and high power density, which make them particularly suited to this application.
